I can’t believe it’s already August, glow-getters! This year has flown by so fast. It seems like just yesterday we were all freaking out about The Rat Hole in Chicago and now the Olympics are happening. But whether you're on holiday or in summer school, we hope you’re having a great summer and enjoying the sun!
To celebrate, here are three quick-and-easy recipes for bright, glowy skin. All made with natural ingredients for people with melanin-rich skin, because when you know better, you glow better… and your skin is worth more than gold (Au)! Let’s get into it:
Aloe Vera and Coffee Face Mask
We all know about some of the benefits of aloe vera (just ask our Alpha Glow Serum). It's soothing, hydrating, and helps with acne. Coffee also has a lot of benefits for the skin because it’s filled with antioxidants that can help with dark circles, acne, and inflammation. Combined, they help your skin achieve that radiant, glowy look!
Recipe
What you need
2 tablespoons of ground coffee
2 tablespoons of aloe Vera gel
Combine the ingredients in a small bowl. Apply the mask on your skin, leave it on for 15-20 minutes then rinse off! This easy mask will leave you with ultra-hydrated skin and an effortless glow.
Honey, Cinnamon, and Turmeric Face Mask
Combine these ingredients together and get the ultimate DIY fix for fighting acne and breakouts! Honey is filled with antioxidants that help fight inflammation and cleanse pores. Mixed with cinnamon’s skin plumping qualities and turmeric’s antioxidants, you’ll have a mask to help reduce those stubborn pimples and brighten your skin.
Recipe
What you need
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon of honey
Mix together to form a paste. Add more honey if needed. Mix well and apply evenly. Leave on for 15 minutes. Make sure to rinse A FEW TIMES, as the turmeric has a strong color and may stain your skin. Apply our Alpha Glow Serum after.
Oatmeal, Yogurt, and Honey Face Mask
Oatmeal is great as a natural moisturizer and for treating redness. Paired with the nutrients that yogurt carries, it makes for a great face mask. There are many different types of yogurts out there, so make sure to use plain or Greek yogurt. Plain and Greek yogurt are both filled with probiotics that benefit the skin, and you don’t want added sugars on your skin either. You’ll also want to cook (and cool) your oatmeal before applying it, so keep that in mind!
Recipe
What you need
¼ cooked (and cooled) oatmeal
2 tablespoons of plain or Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon of honey
Mix together all the ingredients well in a bowl. Apply on your skin and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse and pat dry. For added mostuier apply your favorite serum, our Alpha Glow Serum!
There you go glow-getter! Three easy and simple face masks to make at home. The glory of these masks is that they are NATURAL. You know what's in them and have probably used them before.
