Turning the Tassel: How Grad Stress Affects Our Skin

Turning the Tassel: How Grad Stress Affects Our Skin - Aurganics

Congrats, grads! You made it. It was a long (and expensive) journey, but you succeeded. All those all-nighters and cram sessions paid off. I know the future seems scary and new, but today you can finally relax. You’ve earned this. Let’s all take one BIG sigh of relief together. Big breathe in…one, two, three, four… and release. I haven’t graduated yet, but I can’t wait to walk across that stage just like you guys did. I’ll probably cry. In front of the entire graduating class, but who cares? I worked hard for this. As did you.

Our CEO and founder of Aurganics, Sarah Houston, graduated this year from Duke University! With a double major in Psychology and Music and an Innovation & Entrepreneurship Certificate, she really is THAT GIRL!

Work hard, Rest hard!

Finals and graduation are such a stressful time, and if you’re anything like me, you have more than just school on your plate. With school, work, and an internship, I’m surprised I’m able to keep up sometimes. So, I suggest we all have a little self-care night, whatever self-care means to you. And all this stress is NOT good for our skin. When I’m stressed out, you can tell. It looks like my skin DESPERATELY needs a sip of water – just dull and dry.

Harvard actually published a blog about how psychological stress can affect our skin and can lead to eczema, acne, and even hair loss. So all those all-nighters can do damage, especially for people with sensitive skin. Why? Sensitive skin is more reactive and/or prone to reactions like redness, itching, burning, and dryness. Let’s take the first step to replenish our skin with  Alpha Glow Serum, an aloe-based, plant-powered dark spot serum for sensitive, melanin-rich skin because our skin is worth more than gold (Au). It’s formulated with aloe, glycerin, and jojoba oil to deeply hydrate and replenish your skin, for that luscious, sun-kissed look.

Cortisol? Who is she?

Have you noticed what your skin looks like during finals? There’s a reason for that. Your skin breaks out more when you’re stressed because our bodies produce a hormone called cortisol. It’s released when you’re stressed as a way for your body to regulate it. When you're overstressed, your bodies overproduce it and it can lead to more than just breakouts. Stress can cause wrinkles, dryness, and even an overproduction of oils. The Alpha Glow Serum is formulated with those needs in mind. It uses jojoba oil to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and meadowfoam seed oil to moisturize the skin without feeling greasy.

Let’s make a deal, glow-getter…

We're all going to put on our fanciest pajamas, whether they be those fancy silky ones your mom got you on your birthday or the Nike sweatsuit you dished out $120 for and we’re gonna treat ourselves. We’re gonna wash our face with the *fancy* cleanser tonight and apply our Alpha Glow Serums, for that dipped-in gold glow. THEN, I suggest we dig into that semi-pricy wine we bought with the semi-fancy cheese plate we got from Target the other night and get a little too litty, cause we deserve it!

So, cheers, glow-getter! Here’s to us. 🎉🙌🏾
